The former Brazilian leader has been arrested after authorities concluded he posed a concrete flight risk while under domestic detention.

The one-time leader was convicted of plotting a armed takeover in the ninth month and sentenced more than over two decades in incarceration, but he continued under home detention pending court reviews.

High Court Judge the presiding justice said the action to imprison the elderly politician was a preventative measure after fresh information came to light.

This involved trying to remove his electronic bracelet and a summons to a supporters' gathering that could "allow for a possible escape.

Judicial Records Show Flight Fears

In a paperwork permitting the custody, Justice Moraes said data from the unit overseeing Bolsonaro's house arrest suggested the ex-president's plan to remove the surveillance device to secure accomplishment in his getaway".

Context of Sentencing
